the next step in the city

Are you familiar with the term old soul? It refers to a person who owns and shows a lot of wisdom for his or her age. Well I believe Jenny is an example of an old soul, a very peaceful and modest one. This weekend Jenny stayed with me in Utrecht and we really had the time of our life together. We had a lot of fun and she was great company to have around me during my club performances. She isn’t a dancer, but she was able to enjoy herself while I was performing and after she enjoyed the quiet in the dressing room. 

Right now she’s back to her hometown in Alkmaar and she will be in the city again next weekend. She likes that I'm not someone who needs to be in the clubs all night and when we were back at home, we would talk about our study assignments with a midnight snack. It was really nice, she even told me she’s looking for a room in Utrecht as well, but she isn’t in a rush. She enjoys living with her parents, but in a few years she’s hoping to live in Utrecht. 

This takes me back to my own home searching, because it seems I may have found a new space to spend my days in Utrecht. One of the dancers I work with knows a place which will become available within a few weeks. I have my appointment in a few hours. It’s not a typical student dorm, but a house of an old lady who sublet a part of her home. If I may believe my co-dancer, she's a wonderful lady where many dancers and other creative artists found their temporary home in the city. Many moved because they’ve found another job or went to a foreign country.

One of the important things for me is my freedom, I don’t want a place where I have to watch myself all the time. First, just wait how my interview will go. I’m not a wild person who wants to have big parties in her home, but I do appreciate inviting someone over when I want to. If that’s a problem, then I will stay in this small room where I'm living my city life now. And if this next space is the next best thing then who knows Jenny can rent this place for her moments in the city.

Seems like I’ve figured this out already.
