So many years have passed by, experiencing memories, wars, attacks and secret after secret. These days the 90s are coming back. People thinking those were the days of our freedom, while in fact we were hostages already. Being trapped in the lies of society, the illusions they’ve built to distract us from the truth. Years ago my friend Stan built me this website and we continued to create webpages. It was his place to experiment, mine to share my secret diary of unknown truths living inside my brain. Right now, Stan doesn’t have to work much. His internet company is still a success, keeping it small and updated with the latest techniques to grow his digital empire and investing in other tech start-ups. Being his lab rat from the start, I am also doing good without being forced to work under any contract with any company, despite Stan’s. As long as I am his lab rat.
So these days I am trying out AI and ChatGPT. It’s another era they call Web3. Stan isn’t too excited about it, but feels forced to go along with it, since it’s his income. We realize we become the older generation. The internet isn’t the internet anymore and luckily he has other young brains experimenting with new digital possibilities which are so popular right now. I refuse showing myself on TikTok, but do have an Instagram account which I prefer most. Instagram is perfect for the creative souls among us and if you are one, you feel free to express yourself however you like. Just don’t expect a big audience right away. Your first success is dependent on your perseverance only.
We are living in crazy times they say, but aren’t we always. In the Netherlands new elections are ahead and I am curious who will win the majority of the Dutch votes. When I was allowed to vote, there was chaos in the Netherlands after the murder of Pim Fortuyn. Our generation was too shocked to even realize the responsibility of voting in the first place. There was a political murder going on and the Dutch went crazy, which I can’t blame them.Â
Being adopted from Indonesia, I did feel the obligation to vote as it would be possible I wouldn’t and couldn’t if I still lived over there. So I wasn’t planning to cancel these election and I am not planning it this year either. In fact, this year I applaud the new elections and I would recommend anyone who has the right to vote to do so. You have the right so let’s go.Â
On the other hand, who should you vote for? After all these years since the death of Pim Fortuyn my generation has learned and witnessed a lot. Terrorism. Attacks. Politicians who say they’re sorry time after time, mistake after mistake. It’s been only twenty years and we have no idea what to think of it. Why should we trust the men and women who’ve deceived us so many times with their weird political choices? Not to mention the whole housing issue we’re facing right now.Â
A lot of familiar faces go, and new faces arrive, who can we trust? I really have no idea, so I will continue with my own strategy, my own way of thinking and experiencing. I never read those election programs, because they will never execute what is written over there.Â
After the elections they will go back to their leather boots, wondering which group of people are easy to create the path of lies and dishonesty which are only kept safe with those who trust them.
Although, trust. It’s a weird word after our conversation about politics.
